Price: £1,600 (endoscopic) or £1,400 (normal or
via eyes) Sometimes
called a forehead lift, a brow lift removes frown lines to produce a smoother
forehead and a more youthful appearance. The
procedure may sometimes be performed using an endoscope (surgical video
device) and other specialized instruments to make small incisions along the
hairline. This allows the tissue and muscle beneath the skin to be
repositioned, altered or removed, thus correcting the source of visible
creases and furrows in the forehead. Correction of a low or sagging brow may
be made with or without the use of an endoscope through incisions at the
temples and in the scalp. The
brow lift can also be done by making incisions either side of the forehead
near the temples and pulling the underlining muscles upwards. A
third technique which is sometimes used by our surgeon is a brow lift via the
upper eyelids. This is normally done at the same time as upper eye lid
surgery. The surgeon carefully works through the incision and from here, can
reach the muscles on the forehead. This is a particularly useful procedure when
patients feel that as they have aged they have been left with a ‘cross
expression’ due to the wrinkling between their eyebrows. A
brow lift is designed to correct or improve wrinkling as well as loss of tone
and sagging of the eyebrows which often happens to people as they age. You
will be able to leave the clinic after your procedure. Any pain is minimal
although you will be given pain killers like ibuprofen and paracetamol to
lessen any discomfort in the first 24 hours following surgery. Dissolvable
stitches are used. You
will have an aftercare appointment with your surgeon the following morning
and everyday thereafter in order to check your recovery and for you to ask
any questions and for the next few mornings after surgery.
